Yarn Along

Getting a late start on the Yarn Along over at Ginny's today.

I've been working on some cute baby items this week...even managed one for my impending little one.  Lots of little boy babies in these parts, so I finally knit up the Aviatrix baby hat which has sat in my Ravelry queue forever.

This is a set for a soon to be born little boy...the hat worked up a bit larger than newborn I believe, so I made the slippers a bit bigger as well by following some alternate instructions that I found on Ravelry.

The hat on the left is knit up at the three month size for another little baby boy who was born last month, and the true newborn size on the right is for my own little one.

Can a flower be too large for a baby?  This rose crocheted up quite large, but I figure as she won't have head control anyway when this hat fits her it can make a nice built in pillow, perhaps?
I could use a thinner yarn, but I really love the way that this pink goes with the green of the hat, and the massive rose has grown on me over time.

With all the knitting and entering the final four weeks of this pregnancy, there were no books to be found this week - though we are still reading Charlotte's Web aloud in the afternoons.

  1. I rather like the largeness of the rose. :) I started knitting a blanket for my own little one today (no yarn along for me this week, though, since I am camera-less); I'm hoping to finish it and a hat and a sweater before he arrives in April. :)

  2. OMG! Those hats are just the most adorable thing I've ever seen. Little bitty flapper girls! :D
